Dylan Dietrich (Virginia) defeats Texas to win NCAA men’s tennis championship

ATHENS, Ga. — On Sunday, No. 4 seed Virginia defeated No. 2 Texas State, 4-3, to win this system’s seventh NCAA males’s tennis championship, as All-American singles cease Dylan Dietrich claimed a three-set victory over Sebastian Gosny within the remaining.

Within the third set, Gorzny (ranked No. 3) took a two-game lead, however Dietrich made consecutive service breaks and double-faulted the second to take a 4-3 lead. Dietrich went on to win 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, incomes Virginia its first nationwide championship since successful back-to-back titles within the 2022-23 season.

For Virginia, Keegan Rice beat Karin Iwanowski 6-1, 6-3 for second place, and Stiles Brockett beat Abel Forger 6-4, 6-4 for fifth place.

For the Longhorns, Oliver Ojjakar beat Andres Santamarta Roig 6-1, 6-4 for fourth place, and Lucas Marioneau topped Mance Dahlberg 6-3, 7-5.

Texas earned doubles factors with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, and the Cavaliers gained at No. 1.

The Longhorns have reached the Remaining 4 4 consecutive instances and have reached the Remaining 4 in two of the previous three championships. Texas gained this system’s solely nationwide title in 2019.
